UBot Studio Vs Zennoposter – Comparison

by deepgrammarnazi on February 10, 2012

Zennoposter is automation software made by russians calling themselves Zennolab. It allows you to record your motions in browsers and then (after some heavy editing that requires programming skill) run scripts on your own computer (add’l licenses can be purchased for others).

This browser automation program takes around about ten minutes to download and install. It’s a 75 mb download.

Zennoposter vs UBot: Looks
Opening it up you’ll find the Project Maker. On this area you can instantly start recording actions.

Issue:The help file is online and is in a sort of translated Russian. It’s ok.

The first attempt to learn how to use this software was to find the page on the “Video Lesson.” This was no good. I went back to the help file, I walked through it to try to figure out how to “registrate”, ie, building a template that makes an account on a site.

The help file ain’t great. Visit my blog to see why.

Thankfully the members of the English ZP community have built their own video tutorials on certain subjects. There are about 30 or so of varying length and quality.

Zennoposter Vs Ubot: Looks – UBot’s download is 2.5 megabytes. After install,After download, updates take about 1 more minute to download. Dir size is around 50mb.

BONUS BENEFIT: UBot opens with links to ten video tutorials, many simple scripts, and a collection of pdf files Beginning is not hard!

Their instructional guide is divided into several intros that describe in general how UBot works, then descriptions of the categories of commands and samples of each. It’s not exactly a walk-through. This is more of a here-are-UBot’s-features file.

The video tutorials actually ARE walkthroughs.

Zennoposter vs UBot: UBot’s support
While creationg my programs I thought it would be useful to check out support.
I had some trouble figuring out how the fiverr captcha would work. So I asked both UBot support (via a ticket) & zenno support (via skype & via email).

Before the support test I actually searched the forums of both software.

UBot’s forum really out did my expectations. There was a forum admin (UbotBuddy) who posted a script to solve the captcha, Automatically. Because it’s math. Goshdarn That’s service. I incorporated this into my UBot fiverr script, after some slight changes because it was for an earlier version.

Zennoposter vs UBot: ZP’s support
There was nothing mentioned about fiverr on Zennoposter’s site but I was excited to see if I could auto-solve the captchas like in Ubot. So I began searching for “math” captchas. I found many helping – but wow! There wasn’t a comprehensive answer. To see, visit my site.

When we look at usability, I can’t help but step on toes. I found both programs very quirky. Some reasons:

UBot Studio has a drag-and-drop interface this means it’s easy to use. I’m tempted to say that this makes it less capable, but it isn’t. It DOES make it less friendly from an usability standpoint for steps like conditionals, though.

ZP’s recording function was handy except when it wasn’t. You’ll see in my shootout vid on the site: drag-and-drop is really just as fast. What’s nice re: Zennoposter is the layout.

Except when it wasn’t – bc the huge size of the steps. (Part of why was becausethey were enormous was that they had tiny screenshots of the elements

Ubot’s stock functions work great. Zennoposter’s built-in macro is cool Zennoposter’s email processing is cool. UBot’s is functional, and brand new barely tested it

UBot won.

Here’s why

1) Tutorials and support: UBot’s beat Zennoposter each time Are you a newb? UBot is easier, simple as that. With ZP, I believed I would HAVE to learn to program some. I grew up with BASIC and I stopped there.

2) The UBot method of controlling how you build scripts is completely easy. Understand this: commands & parameters. S’it. Yes, Zennoposter gives a lot of info and has modules for every option that they make. But Ubot does most of the that stuff with a simpler package

Some more clear examples?

Bug testing—

In Zennoposter, testing was hard.

Plain language in UBot let you do this with it was:

Set #var1 $scrape attribute
set #var1 $replace #var1 “=” with ” ”
set #var1 $eval #var1

You’ll notice that is incredibly simple to read if you’ve ever done any programming before

In ZP, it was this:looks like this which really isn’t terribly complicated): -JS.Execute-

That’s some awful crap.
: Zennoposter didn’t make the math happen.

My advice Zennoposter, work on your debug stuff.
Maybe next edition will be better.

ZP lets you view, copy, and generally speaking edit and view HTML etc page code. shows info about elements on the pages. It has built in, big, bubbly modules for captcha solving and regex, AND email processing…etc. Lots of useful stuff – didn’t make a difference to me

Functionality – I’m going to just say right now it’s a tie.

Why?

1st off, These programs seem to do different things. Yes, UBot can be a self-made SEO suite, and it has features for hitting niches and being quick and simple. Zennoposter on the other hand is a heavy, hard to wield program, but it has a built-in scheduler, recording, & email processing that are nice.

But UBot builds executable files!. & it’s friendly for new users!

Wah wah wah.

Or maybe you want to sell exes, then YOU SHOULD GO WITH UBOT.
Or maybe you want to create many really complicated but worthwhile tools for yourself – (Why aren’t you using SEnuke?) GO WITH ZENNOPOSTER.

Ultimately, my advice is – I think you should try them BOTH.

They both serve great functions for the average user.
