Support Letter for Mission Trip

For many short term missionaries, writing and sending a support letter for mission trip seems like a daunting task that they can fear constantly. However, by following some easy steps and also knowing that God has called that you go on a missions trip, you can be sure that you will succeed.

To begin with, you must be as certain since you can that God actually wants you to participate on mission trips, in particular the one you are considering. You need to be ready to prepare in lots of ways, and eager to learn additional skills regarding different cultures, people, and options for life.

In addition, prior to starting to write your support letter for mission trip, you should ask yourself a very important question: Do I have already got enough money saved up to go without asking anyone for additional?

If you have a sufficient amount of money in the bank, then you should be aware that God has now given you the money for ones mission trip… so you don’t need to raise much more from anyone else!

I understand that may be hard to swallow, but take into account that God is the provider and who owns all the wealth in the world. He wants you to carry on a mission trip, and that he may have already provided sufficient money that you can go without asking anybody else for the money He has fond of them. Bottom line: If you might have enough money in the bank, you don’t have to worry about mission trip fundraisers. Use everything you already have.

If you are not prepared to do this, then maybe the lesson which the Lord is trying to train you is faith and stewardship. Your Christian mission trip training begins now, with your everyday life now, before your trip ever begins. If about to catch willing to sacrifice now, how does one ever be willing to sacrifice in another culture within a land to which you have not been?

If you sincerely would not have enough money, next the fun (and fear) begins! Calling potential supporters and writing a support letter for mission trip fundraising is a superb experience in your Christian walk. You will become familiar with to trust God more, and be able to serve others in a way that you have not before. And you will find as many ways to raise money for mission trips and there is people in the world. But the best way I have found is to…

Ask!

Yes, it happens to be that simple when fundraising for mission trips. In reality, you may not need to mail out any mission trip letters for donations at all.

When the apostle Paul needed money to help you the Jerusalem church, he simply demanded help from people who cared (but technically, he did send directions!).

If you would be willing to ask twenty people in person or on the telephone to help you, more than likely you will have all the money you need. So many quick missionaries are afraid or embarrassed to ask and instead “cop out” with the impersonal fundraising letter or other, complex, mission trip fundraisers. If you cannot trust God now to empower you, how does one really know you can trust Him while you are ten thousand miles away from home?

I want to encourage you to be willing to grow like a Christian while you are doing mission trip fundraisers, in case you do have to write a support letter for mission trip fundraising, because that maybe what God really wants within the whole process anyway.
