NRL clubs will play a total of 27 pre-season trial matches in February throughout regional Queensland and New South Wales, Sydney, Brisbane, Alice Springs, New Zealand and England, with the Rabbitohs the first to kick-off in Sydney at Redfern Oval on February 5.
The “Return to Redfern” match between the Rabbitohs and the Newtown Jets at Redfern Oval marks the start of a month-long campaign just five weeks before the Telstra Premiership begins on March 11 when the Rabbitohs and Roosters kick-off the 2011 season at the Sydney Football Stadium
The pre-season also begins on Friday, February 5, for the Warriors and Knights, who will play a charity match in Greymouth, NZ; while the Sydney Roosters are hopeful of being able to show their support for the victims of flood-ravaged Queensland with a match scheduled against the Ipswich Jets at North Ipswich Oval.
